4th of July 2009

Gunnar was so excited for the 4th of July this year. I got him dressed in his red shirt and blue shorts. Apparently that was not patriotic enough for him. I don't know where he found it but he came to me and asked if he could wear this star bandanna. I thought he looked darling. John thought he looked like a rocker. Destination: Bethke residence in Olympia (my friend, Etsuko's, in-laws)
They have a beautiful house right on a lake. We came here last year, as well and we had so much fun.
It only took us about 45 minutes to get there and it only took the boys about 2 minutes to head down to the lake and into the row boat.

It was such a perfect day. The sun was shining and it was HOT!!
Etsuko was so nice to invite us back again this year.
Coby loved just hanging out in the water.

Dinner time...

Our Family Coby in the water...again. This is where he spent most of his day.
The "party barge".

After the party barge we went on the "fast boat" as Gunnar liked to call it.
Below...Chris and Jiro (Etsuko's husband and son) driving the boat.

Gunnar loved every second of it. The faster the better. The rope swing was an adventure.
OUCH!!
After that first jump Chance got better at his landing...

I had to pay Coby a dollar to try the rope. He was so scared at first because it was really high. After the first jump he couldn't get enough. I knew he would love it.
Hanging on for dear life.

Go Coby...

Jiro is so cute.
He is going to have a little brother, Kota, in September.

Etsuko and I were going to get in the water and go swimming but we settled with just putting our feet in.
SMORES!!

Fireworks and sparklers...

Ooooohh Aaaaaahh

Halfway through the fireworks display Gunnar told us he was going to go back up to the house and lie down on the couch on the deck. He fell asleep right away. I was shocked because it was so loud. There were fireworks going off in all directions. I guess he was tired.

The aftermath of all of the fireworks. This was just half of the mess that was made. They had so many.

We had a wonderful 4th of July. As soon as we got in the car all three of the boys fell sound asleep.
Thank you Chris, Etsuko, and Bethke family for another amazing Independence Day.
