Thanks Grandpa!

On the last day of our visit John's dad called the boys into his room. He had a ton of memorabilia and sentimental items that he had collected or received throughout his life. He talked about each item and told the boys the story behind each one. It was so exciting for them to hear stories about their grandpa. After he told them countless, priceless, and exciting stories and accomplishments he let the boys pick whatever they wanted. They were so excited. Chance knew immediately what he wanted.

So did Coby. He wanted the BDU's he wore in Vietnam. He couldn't believe that he could almost fit into it and grandpa actually wore it during the war.

Gunnar had a harder time deciding. In the end he went with a cowboy hat and belt buckle.

John was shocked when his dad told him he could pick something too. He said he has had his eye on this pen set since he was a little boy. When it was my turn I didn't hesitate...I went right for the belt buckle with the "M" on it.
It is beautiful. It was so special for the boys to learn more about their amazing grandpa. It is something I am sure they will never forget. Thank you Grandpa!! We LOVE you!
When it was time to go it was very hard saying goodbye. We had such a fun time.We will miss them so much.

That was an unbelievable post. What a wonderful experience. I just can't stop crying. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall. Those boys are lucky to have such a special grandpa!
