This is the one!!The guy at Lowe's said he had worked in the Christmas tree lot for three years and he had never seen a family get their picture taken with the tree. I thought that was so strange/sad. He told us it made him "happy".Tying down the tree.

Don't tell Chance I told you this but he wanted to pretend that he tied our tree down. In reality the Lowe's guy did it for us. Sooooo nice.Chance brought the heavy tree in all by himself.Chance straightening the tree and putting on the Angel.

We listened to Christmas music and decorated our beautiful tree. We had a really good time. It is such a fun way to begin this wonderful season.

Our Visit to Yakima

We went earlier this year and visited with (boy) Ryan and saw Mady and Zane but it had been years since we saw Rian. We had never met her new baby.

Well, we finally met Harper. We all fell in love with her.
Especially Gunnar.They had so much fun together. The boys had a blast on all of their land.

They had fun with the air soft guns and pellet guns.

It has been about 3 years since Chance has played baseball but this year he decided to step up to the plate. Practices have been going great and he said he was better than he thought he would be after such a big break. After having his first three games rained out he was excited to actually have one that wasn't.

First up...SMACK!! Base hit to center field. He stole second base...then third...and finally...

Home!!

He stole home!! It was so exciting!

Chance played first base the entire game and did phenomenal. He has quite the arm. Next at bat Chance got another great hit. Line drive to center field. And his last at bat was the best of all. He had an amazing hit waaaayyyyyy over the center fielders head. If we had a fence at the field it would have been a home run! He had to settle for a double (and RBI) instead.It was FREEZING!!

Way to go Chance! I am so proud of you!

I can't believe John is 37 years old. He doesn't look a day over 25. Must be nice. We wanted John to have awonderful birthday this year. I took the day off so we could spend it together. We let him choose everything he wanted to do for the day. For lunch he decided to go to The Ram on the waterfront in downtown Tacoma. It was beautiful.

Gunnar was the only one joining us for lunch. Chance and Coby has baseball practice.

They gave John a birthday dessert.

I think I met Beth when I was about 10 years old. We were best friends forever and then she moved away (in highschool I think). We lost contact for years but thank goodness we were able to get in touch recently. Beth lives in Utah now but she came for a visit. I was so excited to see her. We had a blast eating out, shopping, and most of all laughing. I never knew shopping could be so fun... and hilarious! I thought this awesome onesie would look great but Beth vetoed it. A day at the park turned into a fiasco when we were tortured by a bee that would not leave us alone. We were trying to eat lunch and it literally would not go away.Coby and Kendra decided to take matters into their own hands and do something about it. With shoes in hand they waited patiently for the bee to be still.

After countless attempts Coby finally made the fatal blow. We were all thrilled...and Bennett could finally eat his lunch.

Jenn was so excited because she got four free tickets to the Mariners game. She invited me and John and we were more then thrilled to go. As we were getting in the car and about ready to head out John looked at the tickets and noticed that it said the first pitch was at 1:30. It was almost 3 o'clock. We thought the game started at 5. We were so bummed. We were in our Mariner gear and everything.We decided to go out anyway. And, of course, we still had a fabulous time. Just not at the Mariners game...oh well.

I was happy to rock them at the concert.I met Kendra's friend, Monika, this very night and Mandy is in our mommy group.We waited with anticipation for her to come on stage and she didn't disappoint.

Coby's First Football Game

Coby had a great game. The highlight however was right here...The pass was intended for #7, who was 6ft tall (and I'm not exaggerating...I asked). Coby jumped up as high as he could and... made the interception! The crowd, including grandma and grandpa, went wild. I got so excited that instead of getting the picture of his amazing catch I got a picture of this...my arm.

I was so mad. We lost...big time... but Coby was amazing.

I can't wait to watch this kid play this season.

15 Years and Counting...

When I woke up this morning and made my way to the kitchen... this is what I found. Gunnar had been working hard to create this masterpiece.

Please notice me and John holding hands.I could not believe that Gunnar remembered our anniversary. He is such a sweet kid.

I am so lucky to have spent 15 years with this amazing man.There are a million reasons why I love John so much. Here are just 15 reasons why:

I don't even know what to say about this. Seriously, this can not be my baby. He is growing up right before my very eyes and I have to admit I am not ready for it. High school...I was just in high school a few moments ago. Wasn't I? I can't possibly have a child going into high school.
I can't believe it's true. As you can see this is a beautiful child (if I do say so myself) but what you don't see is how truly beautiful he is on the inside. I could never explain to you how wonderful this boy is. I hope he knows how much I love him and how honored I am to call him mine.

Gunnar had so much fun in the pool with the girls.Kendra and John were there so Gunnar was thrilled to play with Grant and Bennett. When we signed up for the tournament we didn't know Team Roy was going to be in it so Coby signed up with another team.

It worked out great because he got to play with some big boys in 8th grade but also got to play with is own team.

Even Vegas had to come down to the cul-de-sac to try it out.

Team Roy BBQ

Coby's basketball team got together for a team BBQ. It worked out perfect because it was right after Gunnar's party and at the same place. The boys played soccer, basketball, and football but what they did most of was...swim.

Coby and Zane were the first ones in the lake.Then the rest followed.It was a beautiful and warm day.Montrae, Jovi, and Jason Jr. taking their swim test.We are so lucky to be a part of the "Team Roy family". The boys are amazing and the families are incredible.

These boys are like brothers to Coby.We had lunch then the boys played another football game.

We were sorry not everyone could come but we had a blast.

My baby turns 7! This year Gunnar had a plan for his birthday party. He wanted to have it at a park.

The problem with having a summer birthday is that you never know how many people will be able to attend because half of the people you invite are out of town. We always have his party at home but because he wanted to have it at a park he was able to invite as many people as he wanted.He was thrilled when so many people were able to be there for his big day.He had a Scooby Doo birthday...his favorite.

(He actually wanted Indiana Jones but we couldn't find it.)We had fruit and veggies and a ton of snacks. Gunnar didn't want a cake this year, he wanted cupcakes. Perfect for the park. I put a "7" candle in a cupcake, we sang Happy Birthday, he made a wish, then blew out the candle.Next up...PRESENTS!!Tyler may be the next Tony Hawk.

Gunnar has truly been such an amazing child. He makes me laugh every day. Watching him grow up has been bittersweet. Each year that goes by I am happy to see him grow and mature but sad to see his chubby cheeks slim down and his baby voice sound old. He will always be my baby but soon he won't want me calling him that any more and it makes me sad. Soon he won't want to play with Batman and Hotwheels...then what will I do? It is all I have known for over 14 years. However, I bet it will be a while before my house is free from Lego's and G.I. Joe. I am going to enjoy every second of it while it lasts.

Gunnar is smart and artistic. Funny and cautious. He is a joy to be around and I love him with all my heart.

We had so much fun.After the show we waited, and waited, and waited for the band to emerge from the building. They finally did. There were a few others that were crazy enough to wait as well and Jackson was kind enough to sign one autograph... for a little boy who had a Last Airbender book.

Thank you so much ladies. I had an incredible time and I can't wait to see him again...and again.

Every morning (and night) Gunnar had to lie down while I put medicine in his ear. Then he had to stay there for 10 minutes.

Manchester Day 3

Before we left we went and played botchy ball (I think that is what it was called) and volleyball. It was so much fun. Until the sand got so hot we were afraid of getting blisters on our feet.

Camping at Manchester State Park

As we were packing up to go camping for the first (and only) time this summer Gunnar informed me that he had an ear infection. We called the doctor and were able to sneak into the office before we headed out of town. Sure enough...another ear infection. I am glad he realized it before we left. Poor baby. We got to the campsite just before dark so John had to hurry and pitch the tent.We were so happy to be camping with friends. The Miles and Walks.

Chance, Analisa, JD, and CobyAt 10:00 sharp we all got in trouble for laughing and talking to loud. Apparently they have a very strict quiet hours policy-which includes a fine and/or eviction (both of which we were threatened with).We tried to be quiet but it was very difficult. We literally had to whisper. Oh well. We had fun anyway.

3-on-3 Snoqualmie

This was Chance's first 3-on-3 tournament. He was so excited.
The problem was that were playing against seniors. Not so fun.

They lost every game but they played their hearts out. What more could you ask for?

One guy was literally 6 feet tall. It was humorous actually.

They won their first few games but eventually had to be in a shootout to see who would get to play in the next game. They were up against older and bigger kids. Whichever team made the most free throws would proceed to the next round. How nerve racking for little boys.

Each of the boys stepped up to the line. I was so scared when it was Coby's turn. In the end our team one by one shot. Coby made both of his free throws...thank goodness.

They didn't make it to the championships but the played great.

The Fort

Gunnar was thrilled to be back home where he could play with his cousin, Lucas.

After a fantastic time in Arizona it was finally time to head home. We were planning on taking about three days to make it back to Washington.

We woke up in the morning and drove and drove and drove.John drove most of the time but he kept getting tired so I had to take over for a few hours, a few different times. Ugh! You can tell how much I love driving.

We saw beautiful scenery all along the way.

After driving about 9 hours the first day we were somewhere in Oregon near the end of the second day. We were looking for another hotel room to stay in for the night. It was getting late and we were ready to go to bed. As we were searching online for rooms we decided that we might as well try to make it all the way home. We were ready to sleep in our own beds. Needless to say after driving about 15 hours (in one day mind you) we finally made it home.

We had a fantastic trip but it was so nice to be home and in our own beds.

What were we thinking?

We had the grand idea of going miniature golfing. As we walked up to the put put golf place we thought we had lucked out cause no one else was there...just us. How lucky are we? We were thinking that in the middle of summer this place would be crowded with people.

Clearly we hadn't thought of the fact that we were in Arizona in 110 degree weather. Who else would be stupid enough to go miniature golfing in that kind of weather? No one...JUST US!

Uncle Ted is giving pointers to Gunnar. Nice Coby. We aren't even sure how he managed this one...Look at the talent my husband has...He was mad but we thought it was hilarious!

Chance got the first hole-in-one.then Coby..then Gunn.At one point during our 18 holes of golf Gunnar said, "mom, can we go home? I seriously think I am dead right now."John and I both got a hole-in-one as well.Near the end of the game Ted was getting frustrated with his performance and started doing some backwards between the legs moves...very impressive.

We had a great time despite the fact we were all hot as heck.

John beat us all! Darn him.

In the Valley

After leaving my in-laws house we made out way to the "valley" (Chandler, Arizona) where John's two brothers live. It is about a three hour drive. Coby fell asleep immediately.Jane and Ted were kind enough to let us stay with them for a few days.

Jane got a new Jeep. Notice something odd?The steering wheel is on the right hand side. Apparently this was previously owned by a mailman. It was crazy to see her driving around in it. Later we had a BBQ at Dave's house.

Dave , Ted, and JohnTheir little dog, Franky, loved Chance. And Gunnar loved his new auntie Jenn. She was very pregnant and due to have baby Layla in just a few weeks. Gunnar wanted to get a picture next to Jenn's belly so when he saw her again he could get a picture by the baby. He had plan.

I love to see how happy John is when he is with his brothers. They all get along so well and they have the same voices and mannerisms. It's kinda crazy. The awesome thing is I LOVE my two sister-in-laws. I wish we lived closer.

On the last day of our visit John's dad called the boys into his room. He had a ton of memorabilia and sentimental items that he had collected or received throughout his life. He talked about each item and told the boys the story behind each one. It was so exciting for them to hear stories about their grandpa. After he told them countless, priceless, and exciting stories and accomplishments he let the boys pick whatever they wanted. They were so excited. Chance knew immediately what he wanted.

So did Coby. He wanted the BDU's he wore in Vietnam. He couldn't believe that he could almost fit into it and grandpa actually wore it during the war.

Gunnar had a harder time deciding. In the end he went with a cowboy hat and belt buckle.

John was shocked when his dad told him he could pick something too. He said he has had his eye on this pen set since he was a little boy. When it was my turn I didn't hesitate...I went right for the belt buckle with the "M" on it.

It is beautiful.It was so special for the boys to learn more about their amazing grandpa. It is something I am sure they will never forget. Thank you Grandpa!! We LOVE you!

When it was time to go it was very hard saying goodbye.We had such a fun time.We will miss them so much.

Happy Fourth of July

This was the flag given to John's family at his grandfather's funeral. John's dad flew it proudly on Independence Day.
We love you dad!4th of July was pretty uneventful this year. James made a delicious BBQ then... we hung out all night and played games.It was nice to spend so much time with family that we usually don't get to see very often.

We had a great day!

Giddy-up

The kids had been waiting patiently for their turn to ride the horses.

The day had finally arrived.

and either grandpa walked them around the pin or...

I walked them around the outside of the pin.Gunnar was so happy to finally be a "real cowboy".After a while grandpa asked them if anyone wanted to ride a horse all by themselves. Chance took off imediately and went inside but Coby and Gunnar couldn't wait to try it out. Coby was a natural and didn't want to get off the horse.

Gunnar was fearless and couldn't believe it. Now "for sure he was a real cowboy".

John stayed off the horses and played with Sugar Baby.

Horseback Riding

I LOVE horses and I used to be a trail guide...back in the day...so one of my favorite things to do when we visit my in-laws is go horseback riding. It is a special time I get to spend with my father-in-law who I love dearly. I hadn't bridled a horse for a very, very long time but it came back to me fast and I remembered how to do it...for the most part. Dad was going to ride Magic and I was going to ride Rocky.I was so excited.

On our way out...We had an amazing ride. We were gone for hours and I couldn't have been more happy.

Sophie, Audrey, and Coby We had so much fun at Silverwood. It was a beautiful day and it was dead. We were certain we would have to wait forever in line but we walked right on almost every water slide. It was awesome.

We went to Silverwood with Romi, Dan and family, Grandma, Grandpa, and Lucas, and Carrie-Lyn Ramos and her family. Carrie-Lyn is one of Sophie's best friends and teammates. Sophie's other friend Audrey came as well.

We all got burnt...ouch!Luke, Gunnar, and Dustin playing hide and go seek.We reserved a cabana which I would highly recommend. It was great to have our own spot and not have to worry about finding a bunch of lawn chairs everywhere we went. They brought us food and drinks all throughout the day and our stuff was kept safe.We were at the water park for most of the day (because it was so hot) but we did walk over to the amusement park for a while. We went on a bunch of rides and roller coasters. It was fun.

I can't wait to go back next year.
